Friars Mill was recognised by Leicester Civic Society this week, winning its Restoration Award 2016. The society’s chairman, Stuart Bailey, described the project as “a remarkable restoration from ruin [that] we consider to be a wonder of the age”.

He added, “This is undoubtedly an emblem of our city’s renewed pride. A tour taken inside the great roof timbers to see the new cupola and the famous golden ibex, as a skylight, was breathtaking.”
