This project in Leigh-on-Sea is for three new bespoke detached houses for a boutique developer, on a steeply sloping site overlooking the Thames Estuary.

Each house steps in plan and section as it integrates with the landscape and all three are conceived as having massive bases built into the land with lightweight upper storeys cantilevering towards the view.

They are organised as two distinct rotated volumes with the central linking circulation space. The materials are complimentary to the local area with the balustrades and privacy screens made as a metal lattice referencing the adjacent Arts and Crafts houses.

The project is due to start on site in 2016.
